I've got a new recording available for download, the smash hit Hot Girls From Mars!!

I was messing with some drum loops and got stuck on this bouncy little mars-like riff and and a couple hours later ended up with this song as the result. I might do some more work on this one in the future after letting it sit for a while.

All the guitar parts were done with my Strat using the Tweed setting on the J-Station.

I've got a new recording available for download, the smash hit Night Train!! Truth be told I'm not overly happy with it as it stands but I'm tired of fooling with it so it's time to put a fork in it and move on. It was my first attempt at creating a little melody line over a rhythym track, some of it works well and some of it doesn't, plus I seem to be getting some static in the recording. (I think it's from my cheapy soundcard, at some point I'm going to have to upgrade to some better recording equipment.)

About the song, the rhythm parts were all done on my Epi Les Paul and the lead was done with my MIJ Strat, all going through the Johnson J-Station using Audacity for editing and mixing. That's it!

Funky Nine

Funky Nine was recorded after three months of practice, using my PC running RedHat 9.0 with the almost defunct Johnson Amplification J-Station, using a tweaked version of the Stones Knockin patch, along with a few drum loops and a little help from Hydrogen to give it a little life. I used the middle pickup of my Fender Strat with the tone rolled off to about 7 and the volume turned all the way up!! I used Audacity for editing and mixing as well as adding a little echo here and there. I'm pretty sure that's almost exactly how the Beatles recorded The White Album, as a matter of fact.

So there you have it, the mix could have used a little more attention to detail but considering I really have no clue what I'm doing just yet I don't think it sucks too much :) Indeed, if I can make just one person smile and tap their toe while their mind drifts away to a happy time and place then I can die a happy man. So download the song, turn your speakers up to 10, and shake what your daddy gave you!
